What is this tool?

PWAValidator converts any Progressive Web App into a native Android APK in 3 stages:

STEP 01

🔍 Validate

Checks HTTPS, manifest fields, icons, service worker. Shows APK Build Confidence and Play Store Readiness scores.

STEP 02

🔧 Fix

Generates manifest.json, all icon sizes, service worker, and offline page — with exact placement instructions.

STEP 03

📦 Build APK

Downloads a complete Capacitor 6 project with all Android resources. Run build.bat to generate your APK.

Prerequisites — install once

ToolVersionWhyDownload
Java JDK17–21Android Gradle buildadoptium.net
Node.js18 LTS+Capacitor CLInodejs.org
Android SDKAPI 36Build tools + platformCommand-line tools
💡 Android SDK without Android Studio: Download command-line tools, extract, then run:
sdkmanager "platforms;android-36" "build-tools;34.0.0" && sdkmanager --licenses

Build APK after downloading ZIP

# 1. Install Capacitor dependencies npm install # 2. Sync config to Android project npx cap sync android # 3. Set your Android SDK path copy local.properties.example android\local.properties # Edit sdk.dir=C:\AndroidSdk # 4. Build debug APK (Windows) build.bat debug # APK location: android\app\build\outputs\apk\debug\app-debug.apk
⚠ Package name: Choose your App ID carefully (e.g. com.yourcompany.appname). It can never be changed after publishing to Play Store.

Upload to Google Play Store

1

Developer Account

play.google.com/console — $25 one-time fee. Takes 1–2 days.

2

Create App & Store Listing

Short description (80 chars), full description, 2+ screenshots, 512×512 hi-res icon, 1024×500 feature graphic.

3

Build Signed AAB

Run build.bat aab then sign with keytool. Or use gradlew.bat bundleRelease with keystore flags.

4

Internal Testing First

Upload AAB to Internal Testing, add yourself as tester, verify it works before going public.

5

Publish to Production

Complete content rating, add privacy policy, then Production → Submit. Review takes 1–7 days.

⚠ Critical: App ID can never change after first publish. Keep your keystore — losing it means you cannot update the app ever again.

Common questions

  • Does this store my data? No. PHP runs per-request; nothing saved.
  • iOS support? ZIP is Android-only. Capacitor supports iOS but requires Mac + Xcode.
  • SW check fails but I have one? Checker only scans HTML source — shows warn if SW is in a separate JS file. Won't block your build.
  • Placeholder icons for Play Store? No. Replace with real PNGs using RealFaviconGenerator.
  • Is Capacitor free? Yes. Open-source. Ionic Appflow (cloud builds) is optional & paid.
